And if Euromonitor International’s forecast1 is right – that the global online goods market will reach USD $3.43 trillion by 2023, Aussie online retailers may be set to benefit.

Getting the delivery experience right

When it comes to the delivery experience, the 2019 International Postal Corporation (IPC) cross border shopper survey found the most important factor to consumers - for five years running in fact, was “clear information about delivery charges pre-purchase”.

A whopping 66% said clear information about charges up front is ‘very important’ to them, with a further 26% agreeing it’s ‘rather important’.2

Also, when IPC survey respondents were asked about their most recent cross border online purchase, 60% said the main reason they purchased the item from overseas rather than domestically was that the ‘price was lower in the foreign country’.2

Given these cost-related findings, being clear about any unexpected charges up front could help give your international shoppers the confidence to shop with you again.
